PROM NIGHT IN
MISSISSIPPI
A film by Paul Saltzman
WORLD PREMIERE-
2009 SUNDANCE FESTIVAL
In 1997, Academy
Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman
made an historic offer to the high
school in his hometown of
Charleston, Mississippi: He would
foot the bill for the school’s
senior prom—on condition that both
black and white students be allowed
to attend. Even though the students
shared classes and every other
aspect of school life, Charleston
High had a tradition of holding two
proms—one white, one black.
Freeman’s offer was ignored. In
2008, he made it again. This time,
the school accepted and history was
made, but not without significant
opposition. Prom Night in
Mississippi tells the highly
entertaining and ultimately hopeful
story of the fallout from Freeman’s
offer, as senior students of
Charleston High rally in preparation
for the school’s first-ever
integrated prom.

SAINT
MISBEHAVIN'
A film by Michelle Esrick
WORLD
PREMIERE- 2009 SXSW FILM
FESTIVAL
Saint
Misbehavin' is the true
story of cultural phenomenon
Wavy Gravy, a man whose
commitment to making the
world a better place has
never wavered. We experience
the impact one person can
have and connect to the hope
that each one of us can make
a difference while keeping
our sense of humor. Wavy
Gravy is best known as the
official MC of the 1969
Woodstock Festival, a hippie
icon, a clown, and even a
Ben & Jerry's ice cream
flavor. In Saint
Misbehavin' we meet a
true servant to humanity who
carries his message through
humor, compassion and a song
he sings, called "Basic
Human Needs." Saint
Misbehavin' weaves
together intimate verite
footage, reflections from an
array of cultural and
counter-cultural peers, and
never-before-seen archival
footage to tell a story that
is bigger than the man
himself.
