Eve and the Firehorse
a film by Julia Kwan
Winner of the 2006
Sundance Film Festival Special Jury
Prize, and then going on to amass
multiple awards at festivals across
North America , Eve & the Fire
Horse has precipitated waves of
accolades everywhere it went. This
is the humorous and heart warming
story of Eve, a precocious child
with an wildly overactive
imagination, who is caught between
her older sister’s quest for
premature sainthood and her own
sense of right and wrong. A
lyrical, lighthearted look at a
young girl’s spiritual experience
which takes you on a wondrous yet
deeply felt journey that reminds us
that sometimes the most troublesome
children are the ones that touch our
hearts most deeply.
"Luminous!
Intelligent, delicate and touching."
- Roger Ebert
"One of the most
enchanting and memorable films made
in this country."
- The Globe and Mail

The Last Romantic
an eccentric comedy by the Brothers
Nee
Calvin Wizzig is a
poet. He knows it. The world,
though, may or may not ever get that
opportunity. Disillusioned with life
"back home," he ventures to New York
City with the hope of getting
published as an influential writer.
There's only one problem: his entire
canon consists of a few scribbles on
a pocket notepad. In this absurd and
sweet comedy, The Brothers Nee pull
from influences like J.D. Salinger
and Hal Hartley, to create the
bizarre and entertaining world of
The Last Romantic.

Apart From That
a film by Jennifer Shainin and Randy Walker
APART FROM THAT is
about how everyone wants to be
liked. How people will go to any
length to be accepted, and how
denial and unmet expectations play a
part. In this character-driven
drama/comedy, the little moments and
everyday lives surrounding three
sets of strangers living in the
Pacific Northwest coalesce into an
examination of this human desire to
belong. It’s an honest look at human
vulnerability and the similarities
between very different people.
"Its characters are more akin to
the American grotesque of Raymond
Carver and Flannery O'Connor than
any film precedents, save perhaps
early Cassavetes."
-Isla Leaver-Yap, the LIST

Full Grown Men
a film by David Munro
Alby Cutrera (Matt
McGrath) yearns for a time when life
was carefree and action figures were
twelve inches tall. When his wife
insults him for being more of a
playmate than a father to his young
son, Alby heads for safety and
tracks down his boyhood pal Elias
(Judah Friedlander) whose memory of
their younger days is considerably
less rosy. They set out on a road
trip to Diggityland, their favorite
place as kids, but simpler times
turn complicated as the two friends
confront the landmines of their
past. Journeying through Florida,
they encounter a cast of wounded
roadside romantics--a disgruntled
ex-theme park employee (Alan
Cumming), a horny bartending clown
(Amy Sedaris), and a delusional
mermaid (Deborah Harry)--each one
shedding light on the perils of not
letting go.
