Summit Action Network and Rush Philanthropic. He is also the founder
and CEO of Rush Communications, Phat Farm and Russell Simmons Music
Group. Randy Credico is the head of The
William Kunstler Fund for Racial Justice, and he is the co-founder of
New York Mother’s of the Disappeared, an activist organization working
for almost ten years to help families affected by the Rockefeller Drug
Laws.
Andrew Cuomo, former secretary of Housing and
Urban Development for the Clinton Administration and the son of Governor
Mario Cuomo, helped bring together the New York Mother’s of the
Disappeared, Russell Simmons, and his Hip-Hop Summit Action Network to
form a grassroots movement against the Rockefeller Drug Laws called the
Coalition. Cuomo was also pivotal during the campaign in terms of
financing, providing political advice, helping to organize rallies.
Cuomo is currently running for New York Attorney General.
Dr. Benjamin Chavis is the President and CEO of
the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network and he is the former Executive
Director of the NAACP.
Sheldon Silver is the majority leader of the
New York State House of Representatives.
Joseph Bruno is the Majority Leader of the New
York State Senate.
Tony Papa is the co-founder of the New York
Mother’s of the Disappeared.
Governor George Pataki is the 53rd Governor of
New York State, an office he has held since 1995.
Darryl Best was convicted of a class A felony
on October 23, 2001 after signing for a package at his uncle’s home
containing 16 ounces of cocaine.
Wanda Best is the mother of 5 children. She is
an active member of the New York Mother’s of the Disappeared and she
became an outspoken figure in the movement to repeal the Rockefeller
Drug Laws after her husband, Darryl, was convicted. |
