VOGUE THEATRE
Located on Sacramento
Street in San Francisco’s Presidio
Heights neighborhood, the Vogue
Theatre is one of San Francisco’s
oldest operating cinemas. According
to property records, only the
Mission District’s Roxie Cinema is
older. The Vogue opened in 1910 as
the Elite Theatre and was briefly
known as the Rex before becoming the
Vogue in 1939. In it’s almost
100-year history the Vogue has
thrived as a venue for foreign and
independent film.
We are pleased to
announce that the Vogue Theatre is
now owned by the San Francisco
Neighorhood Theater Foundation which
is dedicated to the preservation of
neighborhood theaters. The purchase
of the Vogue Theatre would not have
been possible without generous
support from individuals and
businesses throughout San Francisco.
Although the future of the
98-year-old Vogue Theatre is now
secure there are still many projects
to be completed. For more
information on what you can do to
help please click here for a Vogue
Theatre Capital Campaign Brochure.
The Vogue Theatre
is operated by Peerless
Entertainment, a Northern California
business that specializes in the
preservation and operation historic
neighborhood movie theaters. Our
"Baby Matinee" showings have
returned to the Vogue Theatre on
select Tuesday mornings following a
programming change the Friday
before. Look for more Baby Matinee
offerings with the installation of
digital projection equipment this
fall.
At the Vogue you
don't have to worry about voice over
advertising slide shows or a barrage
of television style commercials.
Come and enjoy the show in a
relaxed, comfortable atmosphere.
