A.N.C.H.O.R., a year-round program based in Long Island, New York, stands for Answering the Needs of Citizens with Handicaps Through Organized Recreation. One of the organization’s activities is the Drama Program, a repertory company comprised of mentally and physically handicapped men, women and children representing the entire spectrum of disability: Down Syndrome, learning disabled, autism, cerebral palsy, etc.

In the winter of 2004, the group embarked on its four month-long preparation to mount a performance of The Wizard of Oz, one of its most demanding productions to date.

Yellow Brick Road chronicles this wondrous journey, and focuses on the struggles of a handful of the group’s key players as they rise to the occasion. Narrated by the group’s passionate directors, the film takes audiences inside a microcosm that is little seen and seldom understood. Ranging from deepest pathos to tender comedy to subtle introspection, Yellow Brick Road is an unforgettable experience.

A portion of all proceeds from DVD sales will be donated to A.N.C.H.O.R.
